CUSTOMER PROBLEMS AND CHALLENGES
The customer contacted us because they needed 16 pumps with ATEX and FDA certificates for their installation. The pumps were to pump ethanol in an explosion-proof zone in a newly built distillery for strong alcohols in Sweden. The delivery time was an extremely important factor – the pumps had to be delivered within 5 weeks of ordering. This was related to the challenge of implementing complete technological lines for a new factory abroad.
Magma’s experts trusted us once again due to previous joint projects in the selection of equipment intended for explosion hazard zones.

TAPFLO ACTIONS

Finished Magma SAP device with Tapflo centrifugal pumps.
We have many years of experience in supplying pumping equipment for ATEX zones, so our experts efficiently selected the appropriate pumps in a special design and with the required 5-week delivery time.
In the first stage of arrangements, we selected CTH centrifugal pumps for pumping ethanol in concentrations of 40-95% and water. In the meantime, the end customer from Sweden changed the requirements regarding the standard of centrifugal pump connections from DIN to SMS. This was immediately taken into account in the production process – without changing the deadline, which was still 5 weeks.
The second selection scope was 6 pumps for pumping additives based on ethanol and sugar syrup, also for operation in the ATEX zone. Initially, the end customer was leaning towards peristaltic pumps, which would mean higher investment costs for him. We recommended the use of Tapflo TX70 diaphragm pumps, which are perfect for this application. This way, we managed to reduce costs for the customer while increasing dosing capabilities. The selection of subsequent pumps did not affect the promised delivery date.
RESULT
The applied equipment included hygienic CTH centrifugal pumps and metal TX70 diaphragm pumps. We understand the challenges behind designing and delivering complete installations for the industry. We also know that for an OEM client, timely delivery of components is crucial.
Our client received quick equipment selection and professional advice. Due to Tapflo’s production efficiency and parts stock, despite the special design of the pumps, it was possible to deliver them within a convenient timeframe. Magma’s end customer in Scandinavia gained high-quality, maintenance-free, and reliable equipment that will serve them for many years.
