Key benefits
Konstrukcja metalowych pomp membranowych Tapflo 1. Optional Camlock connections
The metal series diaphragm pumps can be ordered with CAMLOCK connections, which consist of two parts: a male and a female part, which contains a seal. They work by placing the male part into the female part and locking it by manually pressing the securing elements.
2. Durable valve seats
Valve seats are exposed to erosion caused by the impact of the valve balls. To ensure the highest durability, the seats embedded in the casting are made of AISI 316 steel.
3. Installation flexibility
The ports can be rotated 180°. Simply rotate the port to adjust its position to the installation. Plastic ports with BSP or NPT internal threads are supplied as standard. Double ports are also available.
4. Low air consumption
The air supply system has been designed to minimize all air channels. This has eliminated all “dead spaces” and consequently achieved maximum pump efficiency.
Operation principle

The principle of operation of Tapflo diaphragm pumps

The Tapflo diaphragm pump is powered by compressed air. Two diaphragms work alternately, pushing liquid into the pumping system. Ball valves act as check valves, directing the liquid in the right direction.
During each cycle, the air pressure behind the discharge diaphragm is equal to the liquid lift height on the medium side. This means that Tapflo diaphragm pumps can operate with a closed discharge valve without negatively impacting diaphragm life.

SUCTION

The retracting diaphragm creates a vacuum, and thus the phenomenon of medium suction.

DISCHARGE

The second diaphragm simultaneously transfers air pressure to the medium in the second diaphragm chamber, pushing it towards the discharge port.

Construction
Long-life diaphragms

Tapflo diaphragms are composite constructions, ideal for working in harsh conditions, providing a completely uniform surface in contact with the medium. This allows to avoid leaks through the diaphragm and keep it clean.

Diaphragms are available in various materials and colors to suit all needs.

Available material versions: EPDM, NBR, FKM, PTFE, PTFE TFM 1705b, white EPDM, PTFE with white EPDM backing, white NBR.

Composite diaphragm construction

The advanced manufacturing, curing, trimming and finishing process ensures a long service life of the composite diaphragm, which will last for many millions of strokes. The component materials are specially made and adapted to the composite diaphragm technology and the molding process with pressing.
The elements are joined using chemical agents and adhesives.

Air distributors in Tapflo diaphragm pumps Economical power supply – air distributors

The air distributor, which redirects compressed air to the chambers behind the diaphragms, is the heart of the pump. The distributor is located in the center of the pump between the diaphragms to minimize the air path and dead spots. This design is the key to reliable and economical operation. Thanks to a special sealing system, the distributor does not require lubrication. This not only saves money, but also protects the environment.

Available material versions: brass, PET and AISI 316L stainless steel

Ball check valves

Tapflo pumps are equipped with four check valves to ensure that the liquid is pumped in the right direction.
Ball valves are the simplest and most reliable check valve design. They are characterized by tightness and ease of cleaning and replacement.

Available material versions: EPDM, NBR, PTFE, PTFE TFM 1635, PE1000, FKM, PU, Ceramic, SiC, AISI 316L.

Pumps with Double Ports | TT Series

Tapflo PE & PTFE series pumps can be equipped with double ports on the pump inlet and outlet.

This gives the effect of “two pumps in one”, used for mixing or circulating liquids. The medium in one pump chamber is separated from that in the other.

Example applications:

  • mixing two liquids with one pump (50/50 ratio); (example installation next door),
  • transfer and recirculation of ink for printing machines,
  • transfer and dilution of liquids in one pump.

Pumps with Double Diaphragm | TB Series

Designed for hazardous applications, such as chemicals. The use of a double diaphragm significantly reduces the risk of leakage of potentially hazardous or valuable media into the air distribution system and the surrounding environment.

Features and Benefits:

  • Protection – in case of main diaphragm rupture, the pump is shut down.
  • Monitoring – constantly monitors pumps, tanks, vessels and pipelines for leaks.

The Tapflo TB double diaphragm pump (so-called barrier pump) is safer than other barrier systems available on the market. It is part of our range of pumping equipment that monitors and responds to leaks, ensuring the containment of the pumped medium.

For additional pump monitoring, we recommend the use of additional accessories, such as the GuardianTM alarm system.

Smart Energy-Saving Pumps | TC Series

The TC series smart pumps are a modification of standard diaphragm pumps by equipping them with LEAP technology introduced by Tapflo. LEAP® or “Low Energy Air Pump” is a patented technology used in air-operated diaphragm pumps to reduce the minimum operating air pressure by reducing internal losses and friction compared to standard pumps. LEAP uses an intermediate system that detects the position of the diaphragm shaft, automatically controlling the diaphragm movement.

The pump with LEAP® technology can start pumping at a pressure of 0.3 bar without blocking – in the test, the pump achieved 70% of its maximum capacity before other pumps even started. This means energy savings of up to 70%.

Features and Benefits:

  • Retrofit – fits any Tapflo AODD pump,
  • Noise reduction – using lower air pressure reduces pump noise,
  • Available for plastic, metal and hygienic pumps,
  • Extended equipment life,
  • Dosing – the pump allows automatic stopping after the required volume has been dispensed,
  • Improved maintenance – the main valve can be replaced in less than 2 minutes without removing the pump from the installation,
  • Electrical feedback – external pump operation monitoring,
  • Simplified pump control – no need for a pneumatic solenoid valve, reducing costs and simplifying control
  • Dry running, dead-heading

Alarm System | GuardianTM

The GuardianTM system is an energy-saving device designed to protect an air-operated double diaphragm pump from inefficient operation, which consumes unnecessary energy and shortens the life of parts. It also increases work safety in high-risk applications.

The GuardianTM system monitors the liquid pressure, changing it if the pressure value rises or falls below the set value. It thus controls pumps in the following cases:

  • Barrier protection – Tapflo double diaphragm pumps (TB series barrier pumps) have an additional set of backup diaphragms. In the event of a leak, the liquid remains inside the pump instead of leaking through the air outlet. The system monitors the pressure between the main and backup diaphragms, stopping the pump if the pressure exceeds the set point.
  • Dry start and stop – the system monitors the pump’s liquid discharge pressure. It stops the pump if the pressure drops below the set point, caused by a lack of medium at the suction and air being drawn into the pump.
  • Pump blockage and restart – the system monitors the pump’s liquid discharge pressure. It stops the pump if the pressure rises above the set point, caused by a closed valve or overpressure in the discharge line. If the pressure drops below the set point, the pump automatically resumes operation.

Types of installation
FLOODED SUCTION SELF-PRIMING SUBMERSIBLE
Instalacja pompy membranowej Tapflo - instalacja zalana. Instalacja pompy membranowej Tapflo - instalacja samossąca. Instalacja pompy membranowej Tapflo - instalacja zatopiona.
Installation designed with positive pressure on the suction side. This is the best solution when it is necessary to completely empty the tank or when pumping high-density media. The design of Tapflo diaphragm pumps allows them to operate with high vacuum. It is possible to start the pump with vacuum on the suction side and this does not cause any damage to the device. Suction lift is up to 5 meters from a dry pipeline and up to 8 meters from a wet pipeline. The suction capacity depends on the pump size. All Tapflo diaphragm pumps can be installed as submersible. It is important to check the chemical resistance of all elements that will be in contact with the medium. A condition for pump operation is to discharge the air outlet from the pump above the liquid level using a suitable hose.
