Flap valves

The food sector is a very demanding industry with a great variety of products. This means that a pump that is dedicated for these applications has to be designed not only with highest hygienic standards but also be robust and versatile to meet the challenges of the market.

Benefits

The flap valve consists of fewer parts but is more robust, therefore extending pump lifetime. The T225 and T425 pump sizes can handle solids up to 50 mm and the pump reaches 4.5 meters dry suction head. Another key feature of the new design is that the flap valve itself is more hygienic and easier to clean.

Alongside with these changes the flap valve was also introduced to Tapflo biggest sanitary pump – T825 which can pump a liquid that contains solids the size of up to 100 mm in diameter.

Changes

Flap valves made in AISI 316 are mounted in special flap valve cup with clamps between housing and manifold. Pump with flap valves differ from standard pump by valve type, manifold outlet (pos.132), pump housing (pos.11) and pump stand (pos 17).

Flap valves complete can also be implemented on existing standard pumps. The main difference when comparing housing and manifolds in flap valve version is lack of ball stops welded inside, which are reducing max particle size.

Flap valves design is the basis for newer solution of ball cup valves – to mount cup with valve between pump housing and manifolds.

Example applications

Over the years Tapflo pumps have been utilized in many successful application which, amongst others, are:

  • Vegetable soup
  • Champignons in water
  • Sauerkraut
  • Beans
  • Tripe
  • Whole fruit jam
