CTI series are single-stage centrifugal pumps with open or semi-open impeller designed for industrial applications. They are characterized by excellent mechanical and corrosion resistance, on request they can be ATEX compliant.

A wide variety of connections, mechanical seals and special designs meet the requirements of every industry. The pumps of this series are characterized by a very simple but robust design consisting of a small number of components, which guarantees easy and very fast maintenance. As a result, any downtime is minimized, and operating costs are very low.

Combined with appropriate accessories, the CTI centrifugal pump can be used for boosting, dosing, loading and unloading, tank cleaning, metering and proportioning in the chemical, petrochemical and machine manufacturing industries.

Operation principle

Operating principle of the Tapflo centrifugal pump

The two main parts of a centrifugal pump are the impeller with vanes and the pump casing. Liquid enters the pump through the suction connection near the center of the rapidly rotating impeller. The liquid on the suction side moves along the impeller axis and, due to the centrifugal force generated by the vanes, is thrown radially outwards into a chamber in the casing. The casing gradually expands spirally towards the discharge nozzle, which reduces the liquid velocity and thus increases the pressure (diffuser effect). At the same time, as the liquid is thrown radially outwards by the impeller towards the discharge connection due to centrifugal force, the pressure at the center of the impeller drops, enhancing the suction effect of the liquid into the pump, which enables a continuous liquid transfer process.

Construction
Open impeller for Tapflo CT centrifugal pumps

Open Impeller

CTI series pumps have an open impeller with a robust design, high efficiency and low Net Positive Suction Head required (NPSHr). CTI series pumps with an open impeller are both easy to clean and suitable for pumping liquids containing solids.
Adapting the performance of CTI pumps to specific operating points or ranges can be done by machining the impellers at fixed speeds or by adjusting the pump speed with fixed impeller diameters.

Semi-open impeller for Tapflo CT centrifugal pumps

Semi-open Impeller

CTI series pumps can be equipped with a semi-open impeller. Compared to the standard open impeller, the semi-open impeller provides more stable operation, lower noise levels, less vibration and a more robust design. The semi-open impeller is recommended when the pumped liquid may contain hard solids.

Mechanical Seal

Single Mechanical Seal

The mechanical seal spring is not in contact with the pumped liquid, which makes the internal pump chamber fully washable.

Flushed Seal

The ideal solution when the medium is abrasive or contains impurities. This is a system in which a small amount of the pumped product is recycled from the discharge side to the seal chamber through a filter, protecting the mechanical seal and seal chamber from excessive wear.

Lubricated seal

An excellent option when the product tends to solidify or crystallize. An oil reservoir is connected to the mechanical seal chamber.

Heating jacket

Excellent protection for mechanical seals where there is a possibility of product solidification. Also used when the pumped product must maintain a specific temperature, high or low.
A heating or cooling medium constantly circulates in the jacket.

Extended shaft version

An excellent solution when pumping hot liquids, such as oil or paraffin, at temperatures up to 180°C. Complete pump unit mounted on a base with a coupling and cover.

Built-in frequency converter

The simplest and most flexible way to change the pump’s operating parameters. The inverter also provides overload protection and acts as a soft starter.

Mounting brackets

The pump unit can be mounted on a base, which can be permanently fixed to the foundation.
