Self-priming hygienic centrifugal pumps – CTS H series
The CTS series are self-priming centrifugal pumps with an open impeller allowing the lifting of media from a level of -4.5 m. The CTS centrifugal pump is characterized by an optimized design based on the elements of the standard Tapflo CT pump. By replacing only one element (housing) we gain many advantages of a self-priming pump. The pump can therefore suck media with a high air content from a lower level than the pump’s installation level.
Tapflo CTS self-priming pumps are available in two versions – industrial (CTS I) and hygienic (CTS H).
The CTS I self-priming industrial centrifugal pump is made of 316L stainless steel and thanks to its high mechanical strength and chemical resistance is intended for industrial applications in general industry, chemical, refinery or wastewater treatment plants.

| Industry | Application example |
| Food | Edible oils, alcohols, dairy products, fats, dairy products, juices, semi-finished products, food additives, detergents, water. Pumping liquids in the CIP process. |
| Chemical | Chemicals and solvents, dosing acids and bases. |
| General industry | Oil, grease, coolants, detergents. Supplying and unloading storage tanks, containers, filters, wells, supplying process equipment. Dosing systems, dispensers. |
| Sewage treatment plants | Pumping sewage, suspensions and emulsions. |
(1) To ensure self-priming capability, fill the pump housing with liquid as shown in the drawing.
(2) After starting, the pump slowly begins to draw air from the pipeline, creating a vacuum and lifting the liquid. Air is mixed with the liquid in the pump housing. The discharge valve must be open to allow self-priming. Air escapes through the discharge piping, and the liquid is returned to the impeller because it has a higher density than the air-liquid mixture.
(3) This process continues until the suction line is completely emptied of air, and the pump operates as a standard centrifugal pump.

Self-priming casing The CTS series pump features an optimized design based on the elements of the standard CT pump. By replacing just one element (the standard casing with a self-priming casing) we gain many advantages of a self-priming pump. The pump can therefore suck in medium with a high air content from a lower level than the pump’s installation level. After the pumping process, an appropriate amount of medium remains in the casing, and the pump’s design allows it to be restarted without priming. |

Open impeller CT series pumps have an open impeller with a robust design, high efficiency and low Net Positive Suction Head required (NPSHr). CT series pumps with an open impeller are both easy to clean and suitable for pumping liquids containing solids. |

Semi-open impeller CT series pumps can be equipped with a semi-open impeller. Compared to the standard open impeller, the semi-open impeller provides more stable operation, lower noise levels, less vibration and a more robust design. The semi-open impeller is recommended when the pumped liquid may contain hard solids. |

Mechanical seal |
|
| Single mechanical seal
The mechanical seal spring is not in contact with the pumped liquid, which makes the internal pump chamber fully washable. |

| Hygienic cover
Hygienic motor cover made of polished AISI 304L, protects the motor from water spray during the pump cleaning procedure. |

| Flushed Seal
This option is similar to the lubricated seal option and is recommended when there is a potential risk of dry running, or when the product tends to solidify or crystallize in contact with air. Additionally, the circulating flushing liquid removes heat from the mechanical seal. |
|
| Lubricated seal
An excellent solution where there is a risk of short-term dry running and/or crystallization due to contact with air. |
