Tapflo’s active pulsation dampener DT is the most effective way to eliminate pressure fluctuations at the pump outlet. It works actively with compressed air and a diaphragm, automatically adjusting to the current pressure to minimize pulsation.

Tapflo DT active pulsation dampeners are available for all sizes and material versions of Tapflo diaphragm pumps. We offer them in various configurations to best suit the requirements of a given installation – available are pulsation dampeners mounted on the pump, integrated with the pump, on a base plate and with the GuardianTM alarm device.

Tapflo pulsation dampeners are also available in a version designed for ATEX explosion hazard zones.

Operation principle

When the pressure in the piping system drops due to the pulsating nature of the pump’s operation, the pulsation dampener eliminates the pressure peak at the outlet between pump strokes, thus ensuring a constant flow of the pumped medium. This action produced by the dampener reduces pressure fluctuations and pulsations. The graph below shows the effect of this damping:Damping effect in Tapflo DT pulsation dampeners

Tapflo Diaphragm Pump with Built-in Pulsation DampenerIf you are looking for an effective way to eliminate pressure fluctuations at the pump outlet and have limited space in your installation, a built-in dampener is the ideal solution. The TK/TEK series of diaphragm pumps provides all the benefits of using a standard Tapflo DT dampener, but in a compact solution.

The dampener housing is also the manifold, so there is no need for additional connection of the dampener to the pump. This solution does not affect the media flow and significantly improves the damping effect, as the dampener is mounted in-line. The DTK version is designed to convert AODD and EODD pumps into pulsation-free pumps, after installation and connection to the compressed air source, replacing the standard outlet manifold. The diaphragm pump with built-in pulsation dampener compactly combines the advantages of our standard pumps with an active pulsation dampener:

  • Compactness – ready-to-use integrated set consisting of a Tapflo AODD diaphragm pump and a DT pulsation dampener. No piping or additional connections required.
  • In-line design – the pump outlet is also the dampener outlet.
  • Better damping – the DT pulsation dampener is fully in-line for the best possible damping effect.
  • Matching – for each pump size, there is a dedicated pulsation dampener of the same size.
  • Interchangeability – the built-in dampener can be used in existing pumps, simply replace the pump outlet with the DTK pulsation dampener.

Types of diaphragm pumps with built-in pulsation dampener:

TK Series – for air-operated diaphragm pumps (PE/PTFE and aluminum)

  • Available for Tapflo plastic diaphragm pumps in sizes: TRK20, TK50, TK100, TK200 and their ATEX versions.
  • Available for Tapflo aluminum diaphragm pumps in sizes: TXK25 A/X, TXK70 A/X, TXK120 A/X, TXK220 A/X, TXK420 A/X.
  • Since the dampener body is made of an aluminum block, the TK series for aluminum AODD pumps is ATEX zone approved as standard.
