TopLobe Series. Rotary lobe pumps
TopLobe (TL) series pumps are rotary lobe pumps with a special design that overcomes the compromises and limitations associated with the application and use of conventional rotary lobe pumps. TopLobe series pumps are characterized by a robust yet simple design with a high degree of hygiene.
They are designed for quick and uncomplicated operation and thorough cleaning – both manual and CIP/SIP. They are adapted to many types of connections – threaded, clamped or flanged, can be mounted horizontally or vertically, allow for gentle pumping of the medium with low pulsation, even if it is viscous or contains solid particles. A wide selection of shaft seals with easy access for servicing shortens downtime. TopLobe pumps are also available in ATEX explosion-proof versions.

| Industry | Application Example |
| Food Processing | Hygienic design combined with gentle product transfer is most suitable for liquids of varying viscosities. The TopLobe series can handle delicate fluids containing both soft and hard particles with minimal mixing or shearing. |
| Fine Chemicals | The demands in fine chemical processing are becoming as stringent as in food and pharmaceutical processing. TopLobe is the ideal pump, featuring gentle product handling, high efficiency and CIP capability. |
| Pharmaceutical | TopLobe offers the pharmaceutical industry many benefits through the use of low-emission construction materials combined with hygienic design, gentle product transfer and extremely precise dosing. |
| Chemical and Paper Industry | The TopLobe pump has been designed and developed in accordance with current requirements for high product quality, reliability and service. It offers advanced capabilities in handling aggressive chemicals, slurries or pastes. |
The operating principle of a lobe pump is based on displacing a specific dose of liquid from the suction area to the discharge area by rotating the working elements (lobes). The lobes are mounted on shafts, which are supported by bearings in an external synchronizer. Shafts equipped with gears, located inside the synchronizer, transfer the drive from the drive shaft to the intermediate shaft. The lobes are synchronized so that they do not touch each other during operation.
As the lobes rotate, they increase the volume of the space between the teeth, causing a pressure drop on the suction port side (Fig. 1). This causes liquid to flow into the pump housing. The pumped liquid is transported inside the housing (Fig. 2 and Fig. 3) to the discharge side of the pump (Fig. 4). When the volume of the inter-lobe space decreases, it causes a pressure increase on the discharge port side, and consequently, the liquid is pushed out of the pump housing.
