CTH series are single-stage centrifugal pumps with open or semi-open impellers designed for hygienic applications. Made of AISI 316L stainless steel and electro-polished to Ra<0.8, CTH centrifugal pumps offer excellent mechanical strength and can handle media temperatures up to 180°C. Their simple design is very durable and corrosion resistant, while being easy to maintain, which minimizes downtime.

The Tapflo CTH centrifugal pump is characterized by a high standard of surface finish and DIN 11851 hygienic connections as standard. It is designed for hygienic applications in the food, pharmaceutical and chemical industries, where hygiene and the ability to completely drain the pump are key.

Operation principle

Tapflo High Performance centrifugal pumps CTX. Working principle

The two main parts of a centrifugal pump are the impeller with vanes and the pump casing. Liquid enters the pump through the suction connection near the center of the rapidly rotating impeller. The liquid on the suction side moves along the impeller axis and, due to the centrifugal force generated by the vanes, is thrown radially outwards into a chamber in the casing. The casing gradually expands spirally towards the discharge nozzle, which reduces the liquid velocity and thus increases the pressure (diffuser effect). At the same time, as the liquid is thrown radially outwards by the impeller towards the discharge connection due to centrifugal force, the pressure at the center of the impeller drops, enhancing the suction effect of the liquid into the pump, which enables a continuous liquid transfer process.

Construction
Open impeller for Tapflo CT centrifugal pumps

Open Impeller

CTH series pumps have an open impeller with a robust design, high efficiency and low Net Positive Suction Head required (NPSHr). CTH series pumps with an open impeller are both easy to clean and suitable for pumping liquids containing solids.
Pump performance adaptation to specific duty points or ranges can be achieved by impeller trimming at fixed speeds or by speed control with fixed impeller diameters.

Semi-open impeller for Tapflo CT centrifugal pumps

Semi-Open Impeller

CTH series pumps can be equipped with a semi-open impeller. Compared to the standard open impeller, the semi-open impeller provides more stable operation, lower noise levels, less vibration and a more robust design. The semi-open impeller is recommended when hard solids may be present in the pumped liquid.

Mechanical Seal

Single Mechanical Seal

The mechanical seal spring is not in contact with the pumped liquid, which makes the internal pump chamber fully cleanable.
