Active pulsation dampeners – Tapflo DT series
Tapflo’s active pulsation dampener DT is the most effective way to eliminate pressure fluctuations at the pump outlet. It works actively with compressed air and a diaphragm, automatically adjusting to the current pressure to minimize pulsation.
Tapflo DT active pulsation dampeners are available for all sizes and material versions of Tapflo diaphragm pumps. We offer them in various configurations to best suit the requirements of a given installation – available are pulsation dampeners mounted on the pump, integrated with the pump, on a base plate and with the GuardianTM alarm device.
Tapflo pulsation dampeners are also available in a version designed for ATEX explosion hazard zones.

When the pressure in the piping system drops due to the pulsating nature of the pump’s operation, the pulsation dampener eliminates the pressure peak at the outlet between pump strokes, thus ensuring a constant flow of the pumped medium. This action produced by the dampener reduces pressure fluctuations and pulsations. The graph below shows the effect of this damping: Pressure surges in the discharge pipeline with and without a pulsation dampener |

The dampener housing is also the manifold, so there is no need for additional connection of the dampener to the pump. This solution does not affect the media flow and significantly improves the damping effect, as the dampener is mounted in-line. The DTK version is designed to convert AODD and EODD pumps into pulsation-free pumps, after installation and connection to the compressed air source, replacing the standard outlet manifold. The diaphragm pump with built-in pulsation dampener compactly combines the advantages of our standard pumps with an active pulsation dampener:
