Tapflo TX metal diaphragm pumps designed for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. They can be used in EX zone 1 or 0 according to the ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU while retaining all the advantages of standard Tapflo diaphragm pumps.

All aluminum and cast iron pumps are ATEX certified as standard and can be used in EX zone 1. For stainless steel pumps, all plastic parts are made of antistatic materials, allowing them to be used in potentially explosive atmospheres. They are also equipped with grounding. Stainless steel pumps can be used in EX zones 1 and 0.

Thanks to the use of special, antistatic construction materials, no electrostatic charges can accumulate on the pump.

Technical data
Pump capacity: 49 m3/h (820 l/min)
Max. discharge pressure: 8 bar
Max size of solids: 3-15 mm
Temperature: 110 °C
Housing materials: aluminum or stainless steel AISI 316L
Diaphragm materials: NBR, PTFE or EPDM
Valve ball materials: NBR, PTFE, AISI 316L, EPDM, polyurethane or ceramic
Air distributor materials: brass/NBR or optionally AISI 316L/FKM, PET/NBR or PET/FKM
Basic differences in material designs:
Aluminum and cast iron For transporting media with a neutral pH, both thick and diluted, containing solid particles or having abrasive properties. Pumps made of aluminum and cast iron can be used, for example, in workshops, the paint industry, wastewater treatment plants, etc.
Aluminum with PTFE coating Created for the printing industry, where an alternative to more expensive PTFE pumps was needed, but aluminum was not chemically resistant. Pumps for use wherever a medium with slightly acidic or alkaline properties needs to be pumped.
Acid-proof steel AISI 316L Castings for these pumps are made using the lost wax method, which ensures high surface quality and dimensional accuracy. They are characterized by mechanical strength combined with chemical resistance. AISI 316L steel is resistant to aggressive substances such as nitric acid and sodium hydroxide.

Key benefits
Konstrukcja metalowych pomp membranowych Tapflo 1. Optional Camlock connections
The metal series diaphragm pumps can be ordered with CAMLOCK connections, which consist of two parts: a male and a female part, which contains a seal. They work by placing the male part into the female part and locking it by manually pressing the securing elements.
2. Durable valve seats
Valve seats are exposed to erosion caused by the impact of the valve balls. To ensure the highest durability, the seats embedded in the casting are made of AISI 316 steel.
3. Installation flexibility
The ports can be rotated 180°. Simply rotate the port to adjust its position to the installation. Plastic ports with BSP or NPT internal threads are supplied as standard. Double ports are also available.
4. Low air consumption
The air supply system has been designed to minimize all air channels. This has eliminated all “dead spaces” and consequently achieved maximum pump efficiency.
Operation principle
The Tapflo diaphragm pump is powered by compressed air. Two diaphragms work alternately, pushing liquid into the pumping system. Ball valves act as check valves, directing the liquid in the right direction.
During each cycle, the air pressure behind the discharge diaphragm is equal to the liquid lift height on the medium side. This means that Tapflo diaphragm pumps can operate with a closed discharge valve without negatively impacting diaphragm life.SUCTIONThe retracting diaphragm creates a vacuum, and thus the phenomenon of medium suction.DISCHARGEThe second diaphragm simultaneously transfers air pressure to the medium in the second diaphragm chamber, pushing it towards the discharge port.

Construction
Antistatic center block material of Tapflo TX ATEX metal diaphragm pumps Plastic pump components made of antistatic material for ATEX zones

All plastic components in the pumps are made of antistatic materials (filled with carbon), thus suitable for use in potentially explosive atmospheres.

The conductive material ensures electrostatic safety. This means that charges will not accumulate on the pump. The conductive pigment in the material reduces the surface voltage to below 105 W. The pigments cause the center block to be black, but this does not affect the properties, i.e., the chemical resistance of the thermoplastic materials.

Extended life diaphragms

Tapflo diaphragms are composite constructions, ideal for heavy-duty applications, providing a completely uniform surface in contact with the medium. This avoids leaks through the diaphragm and keeps it clean.

Diaphragms are available in various materials and colors to suit all needs.

Available material versions: EPDM, NBR, FKM, PTFE, PTFE TFM 1705b, white EPDM, PTFE with white EPDM backing, white NBR.

Diaphragms in Tapflo diaphragm pumps
Composite diaphragm construction

The advanced manufacturing, curing, trimming, and finishing process ensures a long service life of the composite diaphragm, which will withstand many millions of strokes. The component materials are specially made and adapted to the composite diaphragm technology and the molding process with pressing.
The elements are joined using chemical agents and adhesives.

Air distributors in Tapflo diaphragm pumps Economical power supply – air distributors

The air distributor, which redirects compressed air to the chambers behind the diaphragms, is the heart of the pump. The distributor is located in the center of the pump between the diaphragms to minimize the air path and dead spots. This design is key to reliable and economical operation. Thanks to a special sealing system, the distributor does not require lubrication. This not only saves money but also protects the environment.

Available material versions: brass, PET, and AISI 316L stainless steel

Ball check valves

Tapflo pumps are equipped with four check valves to ensure that the liquid is pumped in the right direction.
Ball valves are the simplest and most reliable check valve design. They are characterized by tightness and ease of cleaning and replacement.

Available material versions: EPDM, NBR, PTFE, PTFE TFM 1635, PE1000, FKM, PU, Ceramic, SiC, AISI 316L.
